Looking forward to version 2
AstroPhil 28.02.2020
Why version 2, well, one of the most important features of a self contained space drone machine is a powerful reverb. This is missing here. In addition, the LFO speed cannot go really slow, e.g. over a minute or longer cycle time. This is a real pity when it comes to slow space ambient soundscapes at ultra slow rythm. Other than that, the sound can be very rich, unique, weird, alien, so nothing short of that one, except for the missing reverb.

Beautiful Chaos
voidesc 04.10.2021
With a few small changes you can go from a beautiful voice, to clear dissonance, to a noisy chaotic mess. Knobs are extremely sensitive, and carefully placed (no small buttons or switches/knobs) - built like a tank.

This is not your standard synth, and might not be for everyone. I'd recommend researching before buying. Personally, this is exactly what I was looking for, and am completely overwhelmed by it.

This is an absolutely unique and organic experience - and every time you play around it will sound different, guaranteed.

Beast from the East

A true Beast from the East & the most interesting Synth I've seen in Years!!
Ignore any concept of standard synthesis, this is in a league of it's own. Everything effects everything.
Some say lack of midi is a shame but I have to disagree. It's an instrument that you play & deep dive into the sound so hit record, best yourself w some basic CV & get back to wav editing if needs be. Covers eveything from wisp like gentle ambient to full on facemelting end of the world drone. No menus just great tactile control.
Really nothing here ot to like, SoMa seem to have developed a cult like following since their inception a few years back & it's easy to see why. A refreshing pproach to making music. If you want to bang out standard tunes then maybe not for you but if you are interested in sound design & sound scapes that get away from generica then you won't look back:

Beautiful rich sound.
Cannot recommend more!

O
More than an alien space ambient drone machine
Ottebol 20.03.2020
I have this Lyra-8 now for some time and the only disappointment I had was the lack of an integrated reverb, however, with a Mooer Ocean from Thomann I ended up with the perfect combination. The youtube demos of the Lyra-8 represent only a mere fraction of its capabilities. This instrument is for the rest of your life, because every time it produces something different than ever before. To boldly play what noone has ever played before. This is the star trek of the drones, without final frontier ;-)
