Closed-back studio headphones

The Superlux HD-660 Pro is a pair of closed-back circumaural headphones for studio applications that, despite their affordable price, deliver a surprisingly wide frequency response which extends from 30kHz all the way down to 10Hz and thus clearly surpasses the normal range of human hearing. Superlux promises a precisely detailed sound and a balanced frequency response, allowing the user to evaluate signals with pinpoint accuracy. In addition to the HD-660 Pro itself, the scope of delivery also includes a 3.5mm to 6.35mm stereo jack adapter and a carrying pouch.

Superlux's 150-ohm model

The diaphragms of the Superlux HD-660 Pro headphones are driven by powerful neodymium magnets, and the drivers, which measure 40mm in diameter, produce a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 92dB provided that the headphone amp used is powerful enough to handle the headphones' 150-ohm impedance. For users who intend to plug into headphone outputs with significantly less power on tap, Superlux recommends the 32-ohm version. This model will deliver a much higher level of volume when combined with smartphones, tablet computers, laptops, and smaller audio interfaces.

For mix engineers, gamers, and podcasters

Thanks to their closed-back design, the Superlux HD-660 Pro headphones are a superb choice for recording artists, but podcasters will also benefit greatly from their high level of sound isolation, which means less sound leakage into the microphone during recording sessions and thus a welcome reduction in the amount of post-production work required. Livestreamers can also look forward to a much higher level of monitoring volume, and gamers who prefer to use a tabletop microphone rather than a headset mic and enjoy the game's audio right across the frequency spectrum. What is more, mixing engineers can capitalise on these headphones' detailed sound and balanced frequency response, while DJs can concentrate fully on their set without distractions.

About Superlux

Anyone looking for microphones and headphones with an excellent price-performance ratio will certainly find what they are looking for from Superlux. The company employs experienced specialists and produces its articles at various locations in its own factories in China and Taiwan, where the products are developed, tested, and manufactured under one roof. Everything can therefore be manufactured on site, from the raw material to the finished device, which has a positive effect on the selling price. The products are often praised in test reports for their sound and manufacturing quality. With Superlux products, private users can achieve solid recording and mixing results even without a large budget.

Freedom of movement while recording

The Superlux HD-660 Pro features a single-sided cable connection, making it a great choice for recording situations in which musicians with bulky instruments need to move around freely. The headphones' 2m cable also makes them ideal for the studio, where sound engineers have to scurry back and forth. Thanks to its soft velour ear pads and relatively low weight of 323g, the Superlux HD-660 Pro is also made for long hours of intensive listening and gaming. Although these headphones have a lot to offer at an affordable price, users should nonetheless be aware that it is not possible to change the cable.

I previously owned the Superlux HD-660, and I wanted another pair, but they were discontinued. Until I discovered that THESE (the 660 pro) dropped. I ordered immediately to see what they're all about.

These are more of a middle ground for recording/mixing, since they have a tiny bit more bleed.
But the pay-off is big. You can wear these for hours and feel zero irritation. Very soft and cozy feeling on the ear.
They're a tad bit brighter, but they also respond a bit better at the sub-bass frequencies. And also, the original 660s were also giving me a bit too much around the 600-1000hz area, whereas these don't. So, you could say these are a bit more V-Shaped, in comparison.

I enjoy listening to these more, and wearing them for longer hours too. And they're absolutely fine for recording too. The bleed levels are STILL comparable even to the DT-770s.

If you don't wanna spend much and still get a comfortable, great &bright sounding pair of headphones, look no further :)

Ok for the money
TERD 12.03.2023
Based on the looks I guess these are supposed to be some kind of DT-770 clone??? The sound is not even remotely as good. The Beyers have much better detail, depth, soundstage and FAR better low extension but I guess this is to be expected at this price.

I guess they're ok for the money but if you want GOOD headphones you'll have to spend more money.

On the positive side they seem to be reasonably sturdy and the cord is nowhere near as fragile as on certain other Superlux headphones. They also sit comfortably on my head.

They will do the job as tracking headphones in my studio. Cheap and easily replaced when a musicians sits/steps on them.

AK
Feedback on Superlux HD660 PRO from NoVo REC
Andrey Kovrizhnykh 20.01.2021
I received these headphones, I liked the packaging very much, there is a good case inside. The headphones themselves are very light, the ear pads are velor, the bass in the headphones is heard very well, the middle is not very clear, but the frequency response is transmitted correctly. They sit comfortably on the head, you can work in them for a long time. When recording on a condenser microphone, the phonogram is not released outside; they are well suited for recording vocals and singing along with a phonogram. I made a detailed review of them on my youtu.be/XtVKONzrvNg channel. I told everything how they work at home. Of the shortcomings, this is not a very high-quality arc, it has a cheap leatherette, metal fasteners are not polished, you can cut yourself, the wiring is flimsy, but it will go for that kind of money. Thank you Thomann for the good packaging, I am satisfied.

Reading reviews on the internet is misleading
Many have same nick name 12.08.2021
A great disappointment. I had seen and read many reviews before I ordered so I expected much better quality to that price.

The metal part on the arc and the black attachment knobs are very sharp, it feels like it cuts my finger when handling it.
The arc does not press the speakers affordable against the head. On the upper side it pushes well against my head but at the lower part it becomes space between the speaker and head. I have 58cm head circumference so that's not the problem.
